Wealth Ledger is a bookkeeping and reporting application built for a family investment office. It turns ordinary bank statements into clean, structured, entity-accurate financial statements — so your accountant receives finished numbers instead of shoeboxes of paperwork.
Many family offices run several legal entities — trusts, companies, a property holding business — but operate them through a single shared bank account. Every line on that statement really belongs to a different entity, and untangling it by hand each month is slow and error-prone. Wealth Ledger does that untangling for you.
Multiple entities, one bank account. Set up all your legal entities once. Transactions from a shared account are allocated to the correct entity, line by line, so each entity's books stay accurate even when the money moves through one current account.
Bank statement ingestion. Import statements as PDFs or CSV downloads from multiple banks — including scanned (image-only) PDFs, which are read with built-in OCR. Imported transactions are staged for review before anything is written to the database, and duplicates across formats are detected automatically.
Transaction categoriser. Rules match statement descriptions — including wild-card patterns — and assign each line item to a chart of accounts used for income statement reporting. Categorisation happens once per rule, then applies to every matching future transaction.
Asset depreciation. An asset register computes monthly straight-line depreciation schedules and books them automatically, with catch-up for missed months and a full audit trail back to the originating journal entries.
Cost allocation. Shared costs — such as home office space — can be allocated by percentage across different entities, down to individual transaction lines.
Inter-company invoicing. Raise tax invoices and credit notes between your own entities (for management fees, asset transfers, shared subscriptions) and post them straight into the ledger through inter-company loan accounts.
Reports. Monthly income statements, profit & loss per company, average-per- month views, daily cashflow charts, and full-year figures per entity or per tax year (South African March–February convention). Every figure drills down to the underlying transactions, and reports export to Excel or print-ready PDF.
Annual Financial Statements. Capture and prepare AFS data so the year-end pack your accountant needs is ready to hand over.
Property investing. Load each investment property and the entity it sits in, together with its Rates & Taxes and Body Corporate accounts. Costs and revenue are allocated per property within a legal entity, so profitability can be reported down to a single property.
Safe, multi-user access. Each user sees only what you grant them, sign-in is handled through single sign-on, and the database is encrypted at rest. A read-only API is included for automation and AI assistants.
Family investment offices — from a single entrepreneur running a few entities through one account, to larger setups with multiple users — who want their books maintained continuously from source documents, and clean statements prepared for their accountant, without employing a full-time bookkeeper.
